Scott Mitchell, Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower, says the late EastEnders star is “constantly on my thoughts.”

Scott Mitchell Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower has claimed that the late EastEnders star is “constantly” on his mind.

Windsor, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease six years ago, died in December at the age of 83.

Scott, who is running the London marathon to raise money for research into the condition, spoke with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway on today’s Good Morning Britain about his sadness.

He said, ‘She’s always with me.’ ‘She’s always on my thoughts.’ I have a lot of dreams about her. When I’m jogging, I chat to her. I believe you do that because it is a natural aspect of mourning, and we all go through those things when we grieve.’

‘I try to have a very positive attitude on it,’ Scott continued. Barbara was a wonderful person who was always upbeat. That was her attitude toward life, the way you viewed her. She enjoyed assisting others and completing tasks.

‘When we went public in 2018, it was critical to her that she knew she was helping people by sharing about her condition.’

Scott, who married Windsor in 2000, was named an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK in August.

He stated that he will continue to raise cash for dementia therapies.

‘Barbara felt like a friend to everyone, even if they’d never met her, so having someone like her be so open about her illness gave others the confidence to do the same,’ he added at the time.

‘That is a wonderful legacy, and one that I will proudly carry on in her honor.’ She would have been overjoyed to hear that she is still making a difference and assisting others in this way.

‘I’m pleased I can contribute in some little way to finding a cure for this awful disease.’ Alzheimer’s Research UK is a critical organization, and they’re our greatest hope for preventing future generations from suffering the pain I suffered.

‘I’ll do all I can to get us there sooner.’

Windsor has kept its condolences page up for anyone who want to fund Scott for his London Marathon race on Sunday.
