Neighbours announces returns for Glen Donnelly and Lucy Robinson

Neighbours has revealed that it will return to Erinsborough later this year with two significant characters, one of whom hasn’t been seen since 1992.

Glen Donnelly, portrayed by Richard Huggett, Paul Robinson’s half-brother, is set to make a reappearance on the drama (Stefan Dennis). Glen moved away from Ramsay Street after falling off the top of Lassiters and suffering life-changing injuries, including paraplegia.

Glen departed Erinsborough without saying goodbye to his family when his relationship with Paul appeared to be irrevocably broken, and he has not been seen since.

Glen will return to the drama later this year, accompanied by his half-sister Lucy Robinson (Melissa Bell), who was last seen in 2020.

Richard told RadioTimes.com that returning to the serial after a 30-year hiatus was “simply like coming home,” however Glen’s homecoming may not be that simple.

Richard explained his character’s motivation for returning, “Ultimately, I come back to reconcile with Lucy.” “As you know, Paul and I didn’t get along after I left, so I return to visit Lucy, and it all proceeds from there with all sorts of twists and turns and cliffhangers – but no hanging off hotel roofs this time.”

Will the brothers be at odds with each other once more, speaking about Paul? Richard has hinted that their reunion will be more than we may think.

“I believe it’s a little more difficult than dislike,” he added, “because there’s so much history with the way Glen was handled, which was really awful, especially by Paul, and here is where the twists, turns, and agendas come into play.” “It’ll be fascinating.”

Richard also revealed some specifics regarding Glen and Lucy’s relationship, revealing that the infamous romantic twist that aired between them in 1991 will be absent this time around.

“It was half-brother, half-sister, and we kissed and wanted to go farther but never did,” he explained. “This time, though, there’s nothing like that. When we see the two of them together, it’s clear that they have a brotherly sisterly relationship.

When Glen returns, we should anticipate him to be “a lot calmer” than he was during his last stay, according to Richard, who also revealed that he will explain why he left so abruptly in the 1990s.

“He was a difficult young guy back then,” he continued, “but he’s grown up and he’s a lot calmer today.” “He isn’t as quick to bite as he once was. Of course, there will be a confrontation with Paul, but how far it goes remains to be seen. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Despite his prior prognosis, Glen will no longer be seen in a wheelchair when viewers encounter him, according to Richard.

“When I was initially contacted, I wondered if Glen was still paralyzed, and if he wasn’t, how did he come out of it?” he stated “But I believe the way it’s been handled is ideal. I believe the writers have done an excellent job of justifying why I am no longer in a wheelchair.”

The return of Glen and Lucy is set to air this autumn.
