Tane Parata will return to Mackenzie Booth after his breakup with Ziggy Astoni on Home and Away.
Tane and Ziggy are expected to split up next week after it was revealed that she is still in love with her ex-boyfriend Dean Thompson.
When the latter is injured in a vehicle accident with Nikau Parata and Mia Anderson, Ziggy slips out to visit him in the hospital while lying to Tane about her plans.
Tane chooses to move out when Ziggy eventually reveals that she still aches for her ex after he sees her by Dean’s bedside later.
Following these events, Tane will tell Mackenzie that he and Ziggy are no longer together, and in his grief, he wishes he had trusted his instincts that she was still in love with Dean.
Later, Ryder Jackson tries to compel Tane to work at Dean’s skate store, but when rookie cop Cash Newman intervenes, Tane pushes him away. Cash, on the other hand, tries to mend fences by offering to buy Tane a drink to help them get over their differences, but Tane isn’t interested.
Later, Tane goes to Mackenzie’s with a case of beer in search of companionship. She’s perplexed at first, but after Tane starts making out with her, she realises what’s going on.
She calms him down after seeing he’s in pain, and despite her desire to hook up with Tane, she realises it’s not a good idea.
Instead, she offers Tane some advice based on her previous experience, stating that no number of empty hook-ups will make the pain go away. Instead, Mackenzie advises him to concentrate on the essential things, such as Mia and Nikau.
When he gets home, though, instead of focusing on what matters, he plans a drinking session with some friends.
