Home and Away star Lynne McGranger shares her top suspect in shock death storyline

Home and Away’s Irene Roberts are ready to return with a bang to the Summer Bay, as they’re at the centre of the fresh assassination mystery of the city.

Irene has been gone from Bay, but, as she is suspected of the death of Susie McAllister, her reappearance is far from silent.

The narrative starts when after the dumping in the water, the body of Susie washes up. Many local people are suspicious, but the police are particularly difficult for Irene.

Here, Lynne McGranger – the Irene player – tells what will happen.

How did you feel that you were part of such a spectacular story?

“The dramatic and daring storylines in the Bay are usually huge quantities of fun. We’re dumb as actors. Although it may occasionally be quite serious on the Telly, we have a really wonderful time behind the scenes.

“In so many dramatic stories – from her illness tale, plane disasters, assassination arrest, incarceration – Irene’s list is infinite.

“Either it’s a really large piece as an actor that I like, or it’s a lot of fun – but frequently both.

“I think it is safe to assume that Irene will certainly have this next tale.”

Irene is back on holiday as the mystery of the Susie assassination starts. What’s the response of her?

“Irene takes holidays because nobody has seen or heard from her children, grandchildren and friends from Susie for several weeks so IREEN leaves to the city.

“They’ve washed up a body and realized that it is Susie, thus Irene and many others are quickly implicated with her killing in Summer Bay.”

Could it have been Irene?

“Irene and Susie have had a tough relationship, of course, when Susie is in bay, but I do not think Irene would do that awful thing – but given the conditions they all may do anything.

“I honestly believe Irene has to walk and be pushed in.”

Since Irene was Susie’s last person to be alive, she is concerned by the news?

“Of course Irene feels a little worried if the police want to talk to her since her record is not good! For the third time, I think Irene has been arrested.

“Irene was the last person to see Susie live prior to her disappearance from chloroforming. Irene was found at the house of John Palmer on the floor in a heap, and Susie had of course bailed her.

“I suppose Irene’s nervous, therefore, as the cops know she has a violent background, even if she does realise she’s totally innocent.”

What’s the police doing for Irene?

“When Irene comes back from her break and looks at everyone coming to observe the cleansing of her body, she speaks to John.

“What is yours, Oh, please, have a life,” he begs Irene and John, “when the corpse has been clean, and Irene is like. She believes, it’s another spectator.

“Amy is the new homicide detective unknown to Irene, and she’s gone to interview people and see if she can discover a murderer.

“The lady she was quite unpleasant to prove to be a detective of the crime when she was later taken to the Station is utterly horrified when she treats him with disrespect.”

Have you had early suspicions about who was the murderer?

“I had misgivings… I truly thought it may have been Justin! I know Justin was experiencing a lot of pain problems following his surfing injury and a medications addiction.

“I simply felt that may be the bar, breaking the camel’s back — he’d be pushed over the brink when he and Leah realised that Susie’s saving was worth $90,000. I mean, that was a real piece of labour for this woman.

“I don’t feel that Leah has it, I don’t believe John is able to, I don’t believe that John is a soft and Susie’s heartbroken.

“I figured it was just Justin, but I simply believe we’ve got to wait and see now! This is my sense when I read the film.

“Irene is just too questionable about Justin, and wouldn’t honestly blame him for the loss of Susie.
