Home and Away Spoilers – Christian devastated after Rachel’s death

It’s a moment Christian never expected to see on next week’s episode of Home and Away in the UK: the patient he was sent back to rescue gets involved in yet another accident, and this time there’s nothing he can do to save her.

Christian Green (Ditch Davey) came in Summer Bay in the autumn of 2020 as the brash, if not arrogant, neurosurgeon assigned to Justin’s case. When he started dating Tori Morgan (Penny McNamee), he quickly became a fixture in the bay, and it wasn’t long until he moved to Northern Districts Hospital permanently.

Tori was finally going to have the family she had always wanted when Christian proposed in February of this year. Apart from his near-death experience at the hands of Lewis, the couple’s life was quite easy… until the week before their wedding.

hristian was looking for an adrenaline rush and ended himself at a skydiving centre, where he met Rachel Young (Marny Kennedy). Christian’s presence at the jump site saved her life when she landed poorly following a solo parachute jump.

Rachel is now ready to be released from the hospital.

She appeared almost sad last week when she learned that she could return to her former life, as it meant she would no longer be able to spend her days with Christian.

She’s madly in love with him, and he’s her first romantic interest since her marriage ended. He clearly sent out signs that her love feelings were reciprocated, and she assumed he felt the same way.

When she put her hand on his late last week, he realized he’d misled her and had no choice but to gently let her down. His engagement to Tori may have fallen through, but he has always regarded her as a friend and a patient.

Rachel has her halo brace removed next week, and after months of rehabilitation, she is finally a free woman. She says her goodbyes to her doctor, assuring him that “don’t worry, I know where the lines are.” I’ve made a wonderful new friend.”

She’s spent the previous several months alternating between Northern Districts Hospital and Summer Bay Beach, and she decides to give the town one final visit before leaving for good.

She writes one more text to her doctor and romantic interest while she’s there, reminiscing about the numerous hikes she and Christian took throughout her recuperation.

This is when calamity hits. She goes onto the road, phone in hand, and without watching where she’s going, when she’s hit by a car!

When Rachel is brought to the emergency room shortly after, Christian is completely taken aback. After the hit-and-run, she is unresponsive, and things aren’t looking good.

He panics as he attempts a second time to save her life, shoving the nurses out of the way to begin CPR. Regrettably, it is not to be on this occasion. Tori is forced to separate herself from her ex-fiancé as he continues to do compressions on Rachel’s heart long after it has stopped beating.

“Christian, she’s gone; take a step back.”

“3:08, time of death.”

He’s a shattered man; he thought he was brought back from the verge of death so he could rescue Rachel, and now, only months later, he can’t save her.

He tries to come to grips with the loss in the days ahead.

His meeting with Lewis early this year left him seeking for purpose in life and a reason for his survival. He intended to live life to the fullest and startled Tori by skinny swimming, skydiving on the spur of the moment, and racing his automobile around the country roads in an un-Christian manner.

Rachel finally gave him something to focus on. He comes to the realisation that he wasn’t brought back by a higher force without her. There was no “reason” for him to live; it was merely the luck of the draw.

Christian took the initial steps toward mending his shattered relationship with Tori last week. She didn’t want anything to do with him at the time, and she was too preoccupied with the inflow of patients following the explosion that shook the harbour. However, she will no longer be able to push Christian away next week as he struggles with the pain of losing such an important patient.

She may not understand his preoccupation with Rachel’s care or his otherworldly search for answers, but she adores him and despises seeing him in agony.

For the first time in months, the two take a stroll together and chat honestly about their feelings. He admits that he thought he was at the skydiving center to save Rachel’s life, but now he realizes that “there is no purpose.” Life is a jumble.”

“How could I have made such a mistake?”

He acknowledges that if he had only picked up his suit, they would already be married. He’s put his life on the line for a ridiculous notion, and he merely spared Rachel so she might die anyhow. He’s thrown everything away with Tori and subjected her to weeks of torment for no reason.

“I’m very sorry,” he says, his eyes welling up with tears.

Christian and Tori will have something else to do this week as Jasmine struggles with her own health concerns as a result of the explosion. All appears to be OK as the doctors bring her out of her medically induced coma and she is able to breathe on her own.

However, the news isn’t all positive. Jasmine asks the doctors and Irene why she’s there just a minute after they tell her she was in an explosion.

She starts forgetting things minutes after being told them, which leads to a heartbreaking scene when Christian needs to remind her about Rachel’s death just seconds after first telling her the news.

When the EEG arrives, he diagnoses her with a kind of epilepsy that was brought on by her head injury. She’s been having seizures, which explains her disorientation and memory loss.

Irene emphasizes that she has been by her side the entire time and that she hasn’t had a seizure. Absence seizures, on the other hand, are a form of seizure that comes and goes fast, with the patient blanking out for 10 or 20 seconds without even noticing it, according to Christian.

Her brief blackouts mean she’ll have to repeat the same experiences over and again if she doesn’t get therapy. Christian, on the other hand, feels that with the appropriate medicine, they would be able to keep it under control.

Tori is overjoyed to see her ex-fiancé in such good shape, and to see his medical knowledge assisting one of her best friends. She’s still suffering from his behaviour in recent months, but it’s evident she still cares about him.

He extends an invitation to supper that night, which she accepts. Is it just a baby step, or are they finally on the mend?
